A surprise maternity shoot in Stavanger

There is always a first time for everything. This was the first time I was contacted to do a surprise maternity shoot. A what you say? Yes a surprise maternity shoot.

The couple only knew that they were being taken out, but not as to what was going to happen. Suddenly there I am, camera in hand and ready to photograph.

As most Norwegians, they do not really jump of joy of the thought of being in front of the camera, but they did really well.

Here are a few images from the maternity shoot that I thought I would share with you!

Blissful Maternity Shoot

I was very excited to have my first shoot in the new studio with this wonderful Kazakhstani couple. They are expecting a little princess the end of June.

It was very interesting to photograph in natural light. The day was typical Stavanger with changing conditions every other minute. Even though the natural light is more challenging, I think its so magical the way the natural light streams across the room and touches my models. Here are some moments from today.

Maternity Leave

Today I went into my office at work and did some filing, handed in some travel expenses and brought some stuff with me home that I can look at at my leisure.

Its been two weeks since I was in last, and I must say that I really do miss the place. Not just the people, but also the work. I feel very fortunate because I have a job that I really really enjoy, that constantly challenge me on various levels. I think its obvious to most of the people that know me; I am a busy bee work-a-holic. The work just fills me with a sense of purpose, with worth and pride. And thats not just this job.

Yesterday I visited Burger King and I remember my days in fast food  - at Bon Appetit Zachen Bergen. I LOVED IT! It was fast and furious - and I really applied myself to be my best and find the most effective ways of doing it. We totally outperformed and had the best team! When it was busy it was really busy, - adrenaline kicking busy! Sitting there at Burger King watching a long, long line practically not moving I was tempted to volunteer for burger making duties.

When the thought hits me that I wont be doing any "paid" proper work for over 9 months I feel the panic taking a hold of me. I know I should be excited and happy - and I am - that I have the opportunity to spend that amount of time with my little princess as my only focus. Further I am sure I will need it too after an exhausting pregnancy. The fact that the 9 months are "paid" makes me even happier. And its not like I dont have a million home projects thats in line waiting for me, including wedding album making, baby album making, photography projects and so on. But will it be enough to make me feel happy and useful?

Stay tuned...

10 days til due date - when the real amazing work will start :)

32 weeks pregnant!

My stomach has finally grown to "average" proportions, but I would like to show this pic to demonstrate what angles and clothing does to "hide" - obviously my tummy is now not a problem area- I am proud of my bump- but even at 7 months u can still hide it if you wanna if the pic is done right ;)

just check the difference with the pic below which was taken 3 weeks ago :)

The grass is always greener

Well thanks to all the rain that we have had this summer the grass and all the plants are really green.

Here are some candid shots from my maternity shoot a few weeks back.

This first one is just one of those moments in between.

And this one is just bringing out the child in the parents to be :)

New beginnings...

If you have been following my blog you know I do not have the habit of writing down too much of my thoughts here. Not because I have something to hide, but more that I often share my thoughts and experiences through images. Today is an exception. I have to get the thoughts out of my head and down on "paper". This has always been my way of dealing with things. I dont talk. I think, write, and then perhaps talk. Writing helps me sort my brain and my thoughts.

Last night we went to a little memorial for the little baby boy that I wrote about in my previous post. It was very brave of their parents to open up their home and their hearts so soon after the loss of their little boy. They shared with us their images and a little diary that showed the journey of the life of their boy which ended way too soon.

I felt deeply sorry for the parents, and of course did not have any form of comfort to offer than a hug. I felt there was no words that sufficed.

However, I would be honest if I didn´t write this next part, because this is really what my head, conscience and heart is struggling with.

I am pregnant myself. 4 months. And this made me terrified. Made me scared. Made me think I over and over and over and over; PLEASE god dont let this happen to us.

How selfish can one be? Before you scorn me, know that tears are running down my face as I write this. Perhaps it is those pregnancy hormones, perhaps its motherly instincts, or just basic survival instinct that makes me think like this. Either way my conscious me do not approve.

However, my consciousness is not winning. My raw emotions are. I am scared of loosing my baby. The baby I dont really yet know to be alive.

Dont get me wrong. I know I am pregnant. Have been vomiting for months and have experienced all the symptoms of pregnancy. My belly is increasing in size. But other than that I have not been to an ultrasound yet and still have not felt any sign of life. And still. I am terrified, petrified, horrified of loosing this growing life inside me. And I worry now, with every little stomach cramp that there could be something going wrong. Further I am scared that I will do something to harm my baby, eat something that I shouldn´t, fall down, breathe some fumes, who knows. Its  a whole lot of responsibility this baby making thing.

I am sorry for sharing all my emotions with you, I am not trying to make you feel sad or bad, nor for you to comfort me. I just hope that if there is someone else out there with similar thoughts that you if you read this you feel less alone with your fear and guilt.
