Maternity Leave

Today I went into my office at work and did some filing, handed in some travel expenses and brought some stuff with me home that I can look at at my leisure.

Its been two weeks since I was in last, and I must say that I really do miss the place. Not just the people, but also the work. I feel very fortunate because I have a job that I really really enjoy, that constantly challenge me on various levels. I think its obvious to most of the people that know me; I am a busy bee work-a-holic. The work just fills me with a sense of purpose, with worth and pride. And thats not just this job.

Yesterday I visited Burger King and I remember my days in fast food  - at Bon Appetit Zachen Bergen. I LOVED IT! It was fast and furious - and I really applied myself to be my best and find the most effective ways of doing it. We totally outperformed and had the best team! When it was busy it was really busy, - adrenaline kicking busy! Sitting there at Burger King watching a long, long line practically not moving I was tempted to volunteer for burger making duties.

When the thought hits me that I wont be doing any "paid" proper work for over 9 months I feel the panic taking a hold of me. I know I should be excited and happy - and I am - that I have the opportunity to spend that amount of time with my little princess as my only focus. Further I am sure I will need it too after an exhausting pregnancy. The fact that the 9 months are "paid" makes me even happier. And its not like I dont have a million home projects thats in line waiting for me, including wedding album making, baby album making, photography projects and so on. But will it be enough to make me feel happy and useful?
